The 2015 Sommelier of the Year competition, organised by the Moët & Chandon champagne house in association with The Academy of Food & Wine Service and The Caterer magazine, selected Tanguy Martin, sommelier at Hotel TerraVina in Hampshire, as the winner.
Already a finalist in 2014, Tanguy Martin obtained this very sought-after title at the end of a final in London made up of various tests: correcting a wine list, blind-tasting wines and describing them, table service in a restaurant situation and finally pouring a magnum of Moët & Chandon Impérial Rosé into 16 glasses.
EuroCave UK was one of the prestigious sponsors of the competition. An opportunity for our London distributor to talk to the key players of wine waiting in the UK and allow participants to discover new products from the EuroCave Professional brand.
It should be noted that the president of the judging panel was the famous Gérard Basset, Best Sommelier in the World, 2010. A French sommelier who has been developing his career in England for many years, notably with his Terre de Vin hotel chain. Gérard Basset has incidentally obtained the title of Sommelier of the Year UK.
